Comptroller Franchot Continues Shop Maryland Tax Free Tour Elkton

Purnell Body Shop to receive 2019 Cecil County Cornerstone Award

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Tuesday afternoon Mr. Franchot presents the Cornerstone Award for Local Business Excellence to Purnell Body Shop and owner David Coleman. For more than 65 years Purnell has served residents of Elkton, providing quality service and supporting the local community. Coleman began as a technician in 1982, and has since become the owner, continuing to expand services and hire locally within Elkton.

Next, he continues his Shop Maryland Tax Free Week tour at the Teal Antler with manager Christina Hinch to highlight the many tax free items, and remind shoppers of the social media scholarship contest in partnership with the Maryland Retailers Association. The University System of Maryland promised to match the top prize, bringing the total for one lucky student to $5,000. Students enrolled in Maryland college, university, or trade schools are encouraged to enter.
