Systems Restored to Comptroller's Offices and Online Services

Broken pipe, cooling shutdown caused temporary outage

ANNAPOLIS, Md. (July 19, 2019) - All systems to the Maryland Office of the Comptroller have been restored following a heat-related outage that temporarily affected in-person and online taxpayer services.

The technical malfunction was the result of a broken pipe, which required air conditioning in parts of the Annapolis government complex to be turned off. The agency maintains automatic shutdown procedures to protect the overheating of critical equipment and to ensure data safety.

The Comptroller's Office thanks the Department of General Services for their efforts to quickly resolve the problem and appreciates the public's patience.
