Alcohol Tax
For manufacturers, transporters, and wholesale distributors of alcoholic beverages into, within and out of Maryland.
Bureau of Revenue Estimates
Provides staff support to the Board of Revenue Estimates, which is responsible for estimating state revenues. Maintains detailed data and forecasts on state revenues and the state economy.
Central Payroll Bureau
Responsible for issuing paychecks to all state employees, except those in the Mass Transit Administration. Handles deductions, payroll taxes, W-2 forms, and other payroll reports for state government.
Compliance Division
The division's primary functions are auditing and collecting various business and personal income taxes. Operating sections include Administration, Auditing, Collections, and Hearings and Appeals.
Electronic Filing Program
For online filers, tax preparers, and software developers with questions or comments about Maryland's electronic filing program for personal and business income tax returns.
General Accounting Division
Maintains the state's accounting records and accounts for all state funds received and disbursed. Countersigns and distributes all State Treasury checks.

Unclaimed Property
Financial assets, such as bank accounts, insurance benefits and wages that remain unclaimed for three years must be reported to the Maryland State Comptroller's Office. The comptroller serves as custodian of these unclaimed funds and maintains a database to help locate the legal owners.

Annapolis Data Center:  The Annapolis Data Center (ADC) provides mainframe computer services for its parent agency, the Comptroller of Maryland, as well as many other State agencies. The ADC's operational costs are fully reimbursed from its customers via charges for computer usage and services rendered. The ADC is the largest of the five mainframe data centers in the Maryland State government. Some of the applications supported by the ADC include the Maryland State Integrated Tax (SMART) System, the State Payroll System, the Maryland State Financial Management and Information System (FMIS), and Medicaid.

Maryland Board of Public Works:  In order to protect and enhance the State's fiscal integrity, the Board of Public Works ensures that significant State expenditures are necessary and appropriate, fiscally responsible, fair, and lawful. In reviewing and approving capital projects, procurement contracts, and the acquisition, use, and transfer of State assets, the Board assures Marylanders that executive decisions are made responsibly and responsively.  Along with the Governor, and the Treasurer, the Comptroller of Maryland sits on the Board.

Maryland Treasurer's Office: The State Treasurer's Office organization includes an Executive Office and seven Divisions, Administration, Banking Services, Data Processing, Debt Management, Insurance, Investments, and the Legal Office. The Treasurer is the principal custodian of the State's cash deposits, monies from bond sales, and other securities and collateral and directs the investments of those assets. In addition to her duties in connection with the operations of the State Treasury, the Treasurer has many external responsibilities. As mandated by statute, the Treasurer serves on approximately 14 different boards and commissions.

Maryland Business Tax Reform Commission: The Commission was established by Senate Bill2 (Chapter 3) Tax Reform Act of 2007, during the 2007 Special Session.  The charge of the Commission is to review and evaluate the current business tax structure. The work of the commission is complete and available online.

Internal Revenue Service:  The Internal Revenue Service is the nation's tax collection agency and administers the Internal Revenue Code enacted by Congress.

Maryland Department of Assessments and Taxation: In Maryland the valuation of all real and personal property for purposes of property taxation is a function of State government. The Director of Assessments and Taxation, appointed by the Governor, administers and enforces the property assessment and property tax laws of Maryland. This organizational structure allows for uniformity of property assessment throughout the State.

Maryland Department of Labor: The Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation protects and empowers Marylanders by safeguarding workers, protecting consumers, providing a safety net and cultivating a thriving workforce that can meet the demands of Maryland?s dynamic economy.

Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration:  The MVA core mission is to deliver services to our customers in the most efficient manner possible, to ensure the safety of every driver we license and to maintain the integrity and security of our processes for every product issued by MVA.  Internally, we refer to these mission goals as the three "S", which stands for Service, Safety, and Security.
