Comptroller Franchot to Celebrate Western High School's 175th Anniversary

Deputy Comptroller Sharonne Bonardi to participate in festivities at her alma mater

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Friday morning, Comptroller Franchot will offer congratulatory remarks at the 175th anniversary of one of the nation's most prestigious college preparatory schools. Western High School, founded in 1844, is a Blue-Ribbon school and the country's oldest all-girls public high school.

Several notable public figures graduated from this much-heralded institution including Claribel and Etta Cone, sisters who collected the finest in modern French art. Other alumnae including former Maryland School Superintendent Nancy Grasmick and State Senator Jill Carter will join Deputy Comptroller Sharonne Bonardi in the festivities.
