Franchot to Recognize Two Montgomery County Businesses

Bethesda Bagels has become regional fixture since opening in 1982

WHAT:

Comptroller Peter Franchot will honor two Montgomery County businesses with proclamations on Thursday. At Bethesda Bagels, he will meet President and CEO Danny Fleishman, son of founder Stephen Fleishman. The landmark regional bagel business started in 1982 and has four locations, including one in the Wildwood Shoping Center in Bethesda. Mr. Franchot next will stop by the engineering firm of Shapiro and Duncan, which has been a family-run operation in the county since 1976. Projects have included the Intercounty Connector and numerous local public service projects. Jerry Shapiro is the company's president.
