Franchot To Promote Small Business Saturday in Baltimore at Bazaart, The Book Escape

Holiday art market at American Visionary Art Museum is a place for unique, handmade gifts from Maryland-based vendors

Comptroller Peter Franchot

The Comptroller will travel to Baltimore on Small Business Saturday to promote local retailers and to encourage shoppers to buy local this holiday season. He'll begin at the Bazaart Holiday Art Market at the American Visionary Arts Museum, where he will peruse an array of locally crafted creations from jewelry and apparel, to sculpture and metalwork, and so much more. Most of the 50 vendors attending the 14th annual Bazaart are based in Maryland.

Next, Mr. Franchot stops at the Book Escape where he will present owner Andrew Stonebarger with a proclamation recognizing his accomplishments and contributions to the local economy. The Book Escape offers gently used and rare books in nearly every genre, as well as brand new titles.

The Comptroller will then give remarks at the Catonsville Fire Department tree lighting ceremony. This annual tradition, now in its 26th year, officially kicks off the holiday season with free refreshments, holiday music and the opportunity to start your holiday shopping at local businesses, which will have extended hours.
