Comptroller Franchot to Spend Saturday in Frederick

Breweries, wine festival and downtown shopping tour on the agenda

WHO:

WHAT:

Mr. Franchot will begin his day in Frederick at Rockwell Brewery's all-you-can-eat crab feast, where he will speak about the state's thriving craft beer industry and mingle with attendees.

Next, he will swing by Attaboy Beer to meet with owner Brian Ogden and chat with craft beer lovers participating on Maryland Brewery Tours' journey to four area taprooms.

The Comptroller then heads to the Frederick Wine Festival at Carroll Creek Park, where he will greet vendors and attendees at the annual showcase of the state's top wine producers.

Lastly, Mr. Franchot will join Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor in a downtown tour of local businesses in advance of Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week, which runs from August 11-17. The Comptroller and Mayor will visit several stores that sell clothing, shoes and other qualifying items that are tax-exempt during the week, while also promoting the Shop Maryland social media contest in which students attending a Maryland college or trade school can win a $2,500 scholarship.
