Franchot to Announce Largest Tobacco Bust in Agency History

Raids in Prince George's County and Baltimore City reveal huge stash of contraband cigarettes, tobacco products; two men arrested, one cited

Agency leadership and agents from the Field Enforcement Division, as well as law enforcement partners who assisted in the operation, will join Comptroller Franchot to discuss the largest tobacco bust in the agency's history. Prince George's County State's Attorney Aisha N. Braveboy and State Senator Joanne Benson of Prince George's County also will deliver remarks..

Speakers will outline the year-long investigation and surveillance that led to the bust; discuss the types of products seized; break down their retail value and potential lost tax revenue to the state; and outline the arrests and potential charges facing the two arrested individuals.

Media will have access to the large storage room containing the confiscated tobacco products.
