Comptroller Franchot to Present Montgomery County William Donald Schaefer Award Today

As nurse and volunteer, Janet Neumann has aided those facing crisis

WHAT:

Mr. Franchot will present the William Donald Schaefer Helping People Award for Montgomery County to Janet Neumann for her exemplary service as a longtime volunteer with Gaithersburg HELP. After retiring from a career in nursing in 2002, Neumann latched on with the faith collaborative that assists area residents in need of essentials such as food, clothing, medicine and transportation.

The Schaefer Award is presented annually by the Comptroller to individuals and organizations in each county and Baltimore City who best exemplify William Donald Schaefer’s lifelong commitment to helping people. Winners are selected based on their demonstration of improving the community; solving a citizen problem through effective government intervention; aiding the most vulnerable in society; or creating a public/private partnership to improve the lives of Marylanders.
