Comptroller to Visit Meat Processing Plant Monday in Baltimore

Manger Packing Corp., home of the famous half-smoked sausages, will be honored

Comptroller Franchot will visit Manger Packing Corp., in southwest Baltimore on Monday to present a proclamation to owner Alvin Manger, honoring the business' 150-plus-year history of sausage making at the same location where it was founded by German immigrant George Manger in the 1860's.

Three generations of the Manger family currently work at the plant producing 20,000 sausages per week, including the famous half-smokes that are famous in the region and used at Ben's Chili Bowl, the iconic Washington, D.C. eatery that has served many celebrities and elected officials during its 60-plus years in business.
