Comptroller to Speak at Lansdowne HS Academy of Finance Awards

Students in program have acquired lifelong financial literacy skills

Comptroller Peter Franchot

On Thursday, Comptroller Franchot will speak to one of the last classes to graduate from the Lansdowne High School Academy of Finance. The program, which has been in existence for more than 20 years, is comprised of courses in economics, personal finance, accounting and other topics that emulate real world scenarios and prepare students for their futures. Baltimore County Public Schools is phasing out the program over the next two years in favor of a single half-year, non-immersive course.

Mr. Franchot, a longtime proponent of financial literacy in public schools, will congratulate awardees and stress the need for financial education in schools and at home to build the foundation for a lifetime of financial stability and success.
