Comptroller Franchot to Present Howard County Cornerstone Award Thursday to Clark's Elioak Farm

Soft Stuff Ice Cream, selling cool treats for decades, will also be honored

WHO:

Comptroller Peter Franchot

WHAT:

Comptroller Franchot on Thursday afternoon will travel to Ellicott City to present a proclamation to Soft Stuff Ice Cream owner Michael Weal in recognition of the business serving cool treats to area residents for more than 35 years. In 2014, Soft Stuff was rebuilt as part of the Weal family investment in a mixed commercial/residential complex where the original shack stood.

Next, Mr. Franchot heads to Clark's Elioak Farm to present the Howard County Cornerstone Award for Local Business Excellence to sixth-generation owner Martha Clark. The Clark family has operated the farm for more than 220 years, raising cattle and growing produce. In 2004, they began acquiring and restoring pieces of the shuttered Enchanted Forest theme park to keep 'storybook' time alive for future generations.
