Franchot To Talk With Greensboro Elementary Students About Finances

Shop Maryland for the Holidays tour continues on Kent Island

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Mr. Franchot will spend Thursday on the Eastern Shore, beginning at Greensboro Elementary School in Caroline County where he will speak with third graders about the importance of financial literacy and explain how tax dollars fund local services. Since 1987, Junior Achievement of the Eastern Shore has partnered with business owners, elected officials and schools to help children build sound financial management skills that they carry with them for life.

Afterwards, the Comptroller will head to Backyard Billy's in Grasonville, where he will present a proclamation to owner Bill Williams and promote shopping local as part of the Shop Maryland for the Holidays campaign. Backyard Billy's has a vast selection of outdoor furniture, play-sets, grills and fireplaces.

The Comptroller then will stop by Kent Island Depot in Stevensville, where he will present a proclamation to owner Sergey Nikolaev and manager Kyle Ritter. The Depot is a one-stop shop for Kent Island residents, offering gourmet sandwiches, crabs, homemade cakes, and other products.
