Comptroller to Kick Off Shop MD Energy Campaign in Carroll County

Marylanders won't pay 6 percent state sales tax on qualifying Energy Star appliances from Feb. 16-18

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Comptroller Franchot will spend Tuesday in Carroll County, beginning at JJ Gloss Home Appliance Center in Finksburg, where he will promote the upcoming Shop Maryland Energy Weekend. JJ Gloss has been a fixture of the local community, providing high-quality, energy-efficient appliances since 1952.

During the weekend of Feb. 16-18, Marylanders are exempt from paying the state's 6 percent sales tax on qualifying Energy Star appliances. Click here for a list of eligible items and more information on Shop Maryland Energy Weekend

Later, Comptroller Franchot will head to Giulianova Groceria, where he will present a proclamation to owner Bill Schroeder. Since taking over the Italian food market in 2003, Schroeder has continued to craft the traditional family recipes that made it a regional favorite when it opened in 1986.
