Comptroller to Visit Bel Air Thursday

We Cancerve Movement will receive William Donald Schaefer Award

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Comptroller Franchot will spend Thursday afternoon in Harford County beginning at Spartan Surfaces where he will tour a specialty flooring distribution company. Located in a re-purposed former newspaper building, this customer service centered company boasts locations from Florida to New York and Chicago.

The Comptroller will continue to Boyd & Fulford Drugs where he will present a proclamation to M. Eugene "Doc Gene" Streett in honor of the business' 55th anniversary. This family pharmacy has become part of the fabric of Bel Air, instilling a true sense of community for several generations of customers.

Next, Mr. Franchot will present the 2018 William Donald Schaefer Award for Harford County to Grace Callwood on behalf of the We Cancerve Movement that she founded upon being diagnosed with Stage IV Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma at the age of seven. The organization creates giving opportunities to help improve the lives of homeless, sick and foster children. Since its creation in 2012, the We Cancerve Movement has donated more than $15,000 in cash grants and more than $50,000 in products to hospitals, shelters and other organizations.
