Comptroller Franchot to Attend Baltimore Festivals Saturday

Formal Dedication of International Union of Elevator Constructors Memorial also on the agenda

Comptroller Peter Franchot

Comptroller Franchot begins his Saturday schedule in Columbia, where he will take part in the formal dedication of the IUEC Memorial honoring those that have fallen in the course of their duties. More than 25,000 members make up the IUEC from the United States and Canada. 290 members have perished from on the job accidents since 1901.

Next, he heads to Baltimore to attend the 54th Fells Point Fun Fest. What began as fundraiser to save the neighborhood from demolition has since evolved into a family-friendly event celebrating the history of the eclectic community with food, games and renowned musical acts.

On the final leg of his Saturday trek, Mr. Franchot will kick off the oyster shucking competition at Ryleigh's 13th annual Oysterfest. The popular Federal Hill festival has moved to Port Covington to accommodate crowds and offer a larger array of vendors and entertainers. Ryleigh's has long been a loyal partner in oyster shell recycling and uses the festival platform to draw attention to need for recycling. The Living Classroom foundation, teaching life skills to area youths will also be featured at the event.
